Action of love international (AOLI) on 1st -3rd September 2023 held a successful assessment and measurement of its’ beneficiaries to benefit from the free wheelchair distribution with support from PBF – Switzerland.
The exercise that was conducted at the Action of Love international premises attracted both children and adults from the four districts of Soroti, Serere,Katakwi and Amuria.
The activity or exercise was aimed at capturing or take measurements of the beneficiaries and also educate them most especially the parents and guardians or care takers on proper nutrition and general hygiene and management of the beneficiaries.
The Executive Director Mr. Jefferson Kandi welcomed the beneficiaries welcomed the beneficiaries and thanked them for always taking care of the disabled persons amidst hard conditions of living.
He also thanked the donors for always having kind and loving hearts towards supporting the beneficiaries with wheelchairs, cows and social capital fund to better the lives of the beneficiaries and their caregivers.
During the assessment several cases were identified and they included Cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and congenital abnormalities as the major cases identified among the beneficiaries.
This activity was performed by an Expert Ms. Hellen Atiang an orthopedic technician from Mulago National Referral Hospital.
During the exercise 33 beneficiaries were assessed and measured and their parents and care takers most especially the mothers were educated by the expert on proper nutrition of the children and antenatal care services to minimize on cerebral palsy and other cases that have kept contributing to number of physical disabilities among the beneficiaries.
Ms Hellen thanked the organization for commitment to support persons with disabilities with mobility and treatment.
She urged the organization to setup a rehabilitation center where the beneficiaries will be treated and taken good care of.
According to Hellen, by doing this it will help the organization monitor the progress of the beneficiaries and also cut costs in terms of treatment from other health facilities.
