  • Restoring Dignity and Mobility: Wheelchair Distribution for Children and Adults with Disabilities in Uganda

In our continued mission to restore dignity, hope, and independence to persons with disabilities in Uganda, Action of Love International recently carried out a life-changing wheelchair distribution for children and elderly persons living with severe mobility challenges.

For many of the beneficiaries, this was morethan just receiving a mobility aid—it was receiving freedom for the first time in their lives.Across our communities, we met children who have spent their lives crawling on the ground in pain, exposed to dust, stones, and humiliation.

We met elderly persons who have spent over 35 years hidden indoors, unable to move beyond their doorstep, forgotten by society and denied access to basic services. Their stories carry deep wounds of neglect, rejection, and suffering. But today, their story is changing.

Thanks to the compassionate support from PBF in Switzerland, we were able to deliver wheelchairs that will transform the lives of these families. The gift of mobility is more than equipment—it is dignity. It is access to school, hospitals, markets, church, community, and a renewed sense of worth.

As the wheelchairs were received, tears turned into smiles. Parents expressed relief. Children held their heads high.

The elderly lifted their hands in gratitude. Many testified that this was the moment they had prayed for all their lives.“For the first time, I can see the road outside. I can go to church again. God has remembered me,” shared one elderly beneficiary after 35 years of isolation.

This milestone reminds us that disability is not inability—lack of mobility is.

We extend our deepest gratitude to PBF for standing with us and believing in our mission.
